Abstract

Compared to traditional etched foils,powder-layered electrode foils show superior performance metrics along with an environmentally friendy fabrication process.Although considerable research has been devoted to their preparation methodologies,the temperature-dependent microstructural evolution during sintering remains insufficiently explored.This work systematically investigates how sintering temperature(615-655 ℃)governs the microstructure and electrochemical properties of the powder-architected aluminum electrode foils fabricated using 3-4 μm aluminum particles.Three pivotal findings were revealed as follows:First,sintering neck evolution follows volume diffusion kinetics with pronounced temperature dependence,leading to deteriorated structural uniformity at elevated temperatures.Second,an exponential decrease in specific surface area occurs due to progressive pore channel occlusion.Third,the optimal sintering temperature of 625 ℃ yields a breakdown voltage of 574 V(+18.3%enhancement),a specific capacitance of 1.002 μF/cm2,and reduced dielectric breakdown probability.Microstructural analysis demonstrates that moderate sintering necks(1216-1640 nm)within the 615-635 ℃ temperature range preserve graded pore distribution,whereas excessively high temperatures induce significant porosity reduction caused by localized melting.The established ternary correlation among sintering temperature,microstructure,and performance provides fundamental guidelines for precision manufacturing of high-performance dielectric foils.This study conclusively demonstrates the critical role of sintering temperature in electrode foil engineering,highlighting that sintering temperature must be tailored according to the aluminum powder particle size in developing advanced powder-layered electrode systems.
