Abstract

Taking the policy texts,media reports,and teacher interviews of the"National Excellent Teacher Program"as analytical samples,this study employs thematic analysis to explore the professional competency structure of high-level sci-ence teachers.The thematic analysis identifies three core professional competencies:a multidisciplinary integrated knowl-edge structure,a value orientation toward becoming future exemplary educators,and a comprehensive advanced skill set.These are further broken down into 12 competency elements and numerous specific requirements.Among them,the multidis-ciplinary integrated knowledge structure is not merely the simple accumulation or layering of knowledge but rather the deep connection and integration of different fields of knowledge.The value orientation of becoming future exemplary educators in-dicates that the"National Excellent Teacher Program"aims to cultivate not only highly skilled professionals but also mis-sion-driven talents.The comprehensive requirement for innovative capabilities suggests that high-level science teachers should not only teach innovatively but also teach for creativity.In the future,pilot universities should develop integrated courses guided by interdisciplinary concepts,strengthen value education under the mission of cultivating exemplary educa-tors,and promote professional development driven by innovation-oriented goals.
