Abstract

In order to explore the influence of grit and academic self-efficacy on behavioral engagement in mathematics learning among junior high school students in Tibet and their underlying mechanisms,1 567 junior high school students in Tibet were selected as participants and surveyed using self-assessment scales for grit,academic self-efficacy,and behavioral engagement in mathematics learning.The results showed that the levels of grit,behavioral engagement in mathematics learning,and academic self-efficacy among Tibetan junior high school students were all above the average.Among them,the level of grit increased with grade level and there were no significant gender differences,while the levels of behavioral engagement in mathematics learning and academic self-efficacy decreased with grade level and there were significant gender differences.The grit of Tibetan junior high school students had a significantly positive effect on behavioral engagement in mathematics learning.Academic self-efficacy partially mediated the relationship between grit and behavioral engagement in mathematics learning.
