Abstract

The effects of coating and singlefruit bagging treatments on the postharvest storage quality of Yunnan Bingtang oranges were investigated.Treatments including a coating agent BC,1%chitosan coating and polyethylene(PE)fresh-keeping bags with two thicknesses(0.005 mm and 0.016 mm)for single fruit were applied to fruits,and changes in fruit color,weight loss rate,edible rate,peel hardness,thickness,total soluble solids(TSS),titratable acid(TA),respiration intensity and decay rate were evaluated during storage.Both coating and single-fruit bagging treatments were found to significantly slow down the water loss and peel shrinkage,lower fruit weight loss rate,and maintain the hardness of the peel during storage,while no significant effects on the intrinsic quality of the fruit TSS and TA were observed.In addition,BC coating treatment was showed to significantly inhibit fruit respiration and reduce fruit decay rate.After 160 days of storage,the BC coating treatment group exhibited the lowest fruit decay rate(14.17%)and the lowest respiration intensity(12.56 mg/(kg·h)).Overall,the BC coating treatment provided the best preservation effect and was indicated to reduce costs compared with singlefruit bagging.
