Abstract

To address signal integrity issues caused by the propagation delay skew between positive/negative(P/N)microstrip lines and to enhance differential signal transmission quality in high-speed PCB designs,a segmented equal-length microstrip line routing method based on line width differences was proposed.This approach abandoned the traditional overall equal-length routing strategy,instead implementing independent delay compensation for microstrip lines of different widths on the same layer.By integrating transmission delay theory and mode conversion theory,the simulation models for both the conventional overall and the proposed segmented routing structures were established.Simulation results demonstrate that the segmented equal-length design achieves significant performance improvements,reducing the P/N delay skew by 71%,markedly improving insertion loss at frequencies above 25 GHz,enhancing mode conversion performance by 5-8 dB,and yielding better eye diagram quality with an increase in eye height by 10 mV,an increase in eye width by 0.31 ps,and effective jitter suppression.The proposed method can effectively suppress mode conversion and improve signal integrity,offering a novel solution for high-speed circuit design.
