Abstract

[Objective]To analyze the epidemiological characteristics and pathogenic distribution of foodborne diseases in Fengtai District,Beijing,from 2018 to 2023.[Method]Active surveillance data of 2 361 foodborne disease cases were collected from three sentinel hospitals in Fengtai District.Fecal samples were tested for eight pathogenic bacteria,and the data were analyzed using statistical tests.[Result]Over the six-year period,486 positive samples were detected(20.58%).The predominant pathogens were diarrheagenic Escherichia coli(8.30%)and Campylobacter(6.73%).Temporal distribution revealed a peak incidence from May to September,with the highest detection rate in July(38.03%).In population distribution,the detection rate was higher in males than females(22.26%vs.18.79%,P=0.037),with the highest rate in the 21-30 age group(26.53%).Workers showed the highest occupational risk(33.09%).[Conclusion]Foodborne diseases in Fengtai District exhibited seasonal peaks in summer and autumn,with young adults and workers being high-risk populations.We recommend strengthening food safety supervision during high-temperature seasons,conducting health education for high-risk populations and settings,and incorporating Campylobacter into routine surveillance systems to enhance prevention and control effectiveness.
