Abstract

In order to meet the requirements of high integration,low power consumption,and fast transient response for power management chips in Internet of Things(IoT)terminals,a fully integrated low dropout linear regulator(LDO)was proposed.This circuit adopted a subthreshold CMOS voltage reference circuit and an adaptive bias current circuit to reduce the LDO area and the power consumption.An error amplifier with a local common-mode feedback circuit,a super source follower,a transient enhancement circuit,and a substrate modulation amplifier were adopted to improve the transient response of the LDO.The circuit was designed and verified based on SMIC 55 nm CMOS technology.The results showed that when the input voltage ranged from 1.1 V to 1.5 V,the LDO stably outputed 1.0 V,with a maximum load current of 50 mA and a quiescent current of 6.17 μA.When the load current jumped within the range from 0.5 mA to 50 mA in 1 μs,the overshoot voltage and undershoot voltage were 14.8 mV and 29.2 mV,respectively,and the stable recovery time were 3 μs and 2.4μs,respectively.This LDO is suitable for low-power IoT application scenarios.
