System for Science Teacher Education for a New Era:Connotation,Current Situation and Development Path

Abstract

The independent cultivation of talents in technological innovation in the new era relies on a high-quality science teacher workforce.The sustainable supply of high-quality science teachers roots in a high-quality system for science teacher education.The system for science teacher education is an organic whole composed of the"trinity"of the practice system,academic system,and guarantee system for science teacher education.Currently,the construction of the science teacher ed-ucation system faces three sets of challenges:the incomplete practical system of science teacher education which fails to meet the demand for the construction of a high-quality science teacher team,the weak academic system of science teacher education which fails to meet the professional requirements of science teacher education,and the inadequate guarantee sys-tem of science teacher education which hinders the sustainable development of research and practice.It is suggested to focus on the needs of building a science teacher workforce in the new era,establish an integrated model for science teacher train-ing that includes accreditation,cultivation,and training;improve the academic ecology with top-level planning,disciplinary organization,and academic organization;and construct a collaborative science teacher education guarantee system involving multiple stakeholders.
