摘要

Abstract

Whether underprivileged children can move upward is an important indicator to measure the degree of so-cial equality and openness.What is the driving force behind the upward mobility of underprivileged children?The author highlights personal reflection from a dual perspective of insider and outsider,employing a narrative technique that com-bines both storytelling and commentary;and presents two main themes:personal growth narrative and theoretical contem-plation.The aim is to answer the close relationship between the suffering experiences at the grassroots level,educational struggle,and class breakout.The scarcity of material conditions,the arduousness of agricultural labor,and the face-to-face of family members can help underprivileged children to understand their own destinies early on.This not only cultivates self-discipline,frugality,filial piety,and sensible character,but also drives them to strengthen time management,temper their minds,empathize with their parents,and form a community with a shared future.It also stimulates a strong desire for upward mobility and internal drive;The assistance of important others,the influence of environmental culture,opportuni-ties in social structure,and specific circumstances and opportunities are the external driving forces that help underprivi-leged children break through the social class,and together with the internal driving forces caused by grassroots level family reasons,they drive underprivileged children to achieve social class breakout.Therefore,the grassroots level also has its own unique cultural capital,which becomes the key for the underprivileged children to achieve high academic achieve-ments,thereby breaking free from the quagmire of"son inheriting father's business"and breaking through the"curse"passed down between generations of social classes;grassroots level families should pay attention to cultivating their chil-dren's resilience,encouraging them to develop correct cognition and positive mentality,form good personality traits,and actively and rationally cope with adversity;underprivileged children should believe that"studying changes their destiny",actively exert their subjective initiative,strive to create conditions,and transform limited family capital into academic achievements;society should attach great importance to the intermediary role of education in promoting the upward mobili-ty of children from disadvantaged groups,further increase investment in basic education in underdeveloped areas,further improve education policies for children from disadvantaged families,provide assistance to disadvantaged groups in the competition for educational opportunities,and help more underprivileged children find a"black box"to break through the intergenerational transmission of social classes,achieving social class breakout.
